Ms. Jo Thorburn

Jo Thorburn is a registered clinical psychologist with AHPRA who is currently completing her Ph.D. involving a global study investigating psychology recovery in patients who have experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm. Jo is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian Clinical Psychology Association, the Australian and New Zealand Mental Health association, the Australian and New Zealand and International Academies for Eating disorders and is a Fellow of the Clinical College.
Jo has worked in diverse settings including: Schools, Universities, Hospitals, G.P. Clinics, Corrections, and Private practice. Jo’s areas of interest include treating Children, Adolescents, and Adults, presenting with a range of issues such as: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Adjustment difficulties, Carer Difficulties, Parenting Difficulties, Relationship Difficulties, Disability, Panic, Grief and Loss, Eating Disorders particularly Bulimia, Learning and Educational Difficulties, Living with Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness.
Jo utilises an Integrative approach to her work that is evidenced based and individualised to each client’s unique needs. Jo draws upon a range of interventional techniques including: CBT, ACT, CFT, SFT, Mindfulness, Somatic, Experiential, Creative Arts and Writing. Jo is a registered provider with Medicare, TPS (formerly ATAPS), most Major Private Health Funds, TAC, Worksafe and the NDIS. Jo is able to provide services with a G.P. referral or on a full fee paying basis. Bulk billing options will be considered on an individual case by case basis in extenuating circumstances with a referral from a G.P.
